The Telecel Ghana Music Awards board members have officially announced that rapper Amerado has submitted a petition questioning the exclusion of his popular song Kwaku Ananse from this year’s award scheme.
Robert Klah, the Head of Public Events and Communications for Telecel Ghana Music Awards, confirmed this during an interview on Daybreak Hitz FM on April 2nd.
The board members stated that Amerado inquired about the omission of his song from the Most Popular Song of the Year category, considering its widespread popularity.
Robert Klah further confirmed that the award scheme has received Amerado’s petition, which is currently under review. The scheme will assess the petition and determine if it merits any recognition.
“Amerado’s team has already contacted us directly regarding the omission of ‘Kwaku Ananse’ from the Most Popular Song of the Year. He has submitted his petition. The board will sit on that, and if it he merits the chance, the song will be included,” Robert Klah noted.
Mr. Klah also urged artists who might be worried about their nominations to seek clarification within one-week grace period.
“If you feel strongly about your petition that you ought to be there, we support you 100%. Reach out to us and let’s make the necessary corrections and clarifications,” he added.
Amerado previously took to X to confront the organsiers on why Kwaku Ananse (the original version) did not receive any nomination.
The rapper expressed his confusion as to why his popular song did not make it into any category for consideration.
Furthermore, fans have also been curious about why the hit song was not included in categories such as Popular Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
