In a demonstration of solidarity with fellow Nigerians participating in a nationwide protest against deteriorating living conditions, singer Tems has decided to delay the release of her new music video.
The song Burning, from her debut album ‘Born In The Wild,’ was originally scheduled to be released on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
However, Tems announced via a post on her Twitter account that she chose to postpone the music video in honour of the ongoing protests against poor governance.
She emphasized the importance of amplifying the people’s voices in this critical moment.
Tems wrote: “Out of respect for the on going protest at home [Nigerian flag emoji], I have decided to postpone the release of ‘Burning’ music video. Praying for the safety of those outside at this time. May the voice of the people be heard.”
Tems recently won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards.
Tems beat other nominees such as Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin, Halle Bailey, CeCe Winans, Erica Campbell, Maverick City Music, Naomi Raine & Chandler Moore, and Kirk Franklin to win the award with her hit song “Me & U.”
The Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the BET Awards recognizes outstanding urban contemporary gospel artists.
