Grammy-winning artist SZA has taken to social media to express her frustration with fans over what she perceives as a growing sense of entitlement and disrespect stemming from her openness online.

Reflecting on her approach to sharing personal updates and music snippets, she admitted that her intentions to foster a closer connection with fans had backfired.

“I used to think sharing snippets, personal info + music tea would build connection, but it actually just made ppl entitled, ungrateful, and disrespectful. It’s time to restore the boundary,” she declared.

In a firm stance, the SOS hitmaker announced her decision to cease engaging in explanations or updates about her music, making it clear that any further inquiries should be directed to her manager, Terrence “Punch” Henderson.

Her frustration spilt over when a fan criticized her remarks. SZA did not shy away from addressing the comment, pointing out the challenges that had delayed her music releases, including the California wildfires that disrupted her team’s work.

“It’s almost like you didn’t read Punch clearly announce we were waiting on sample clearance. Almost like wildfires broke out where everyone who worked on this album lives. Almost like you don’t give a [expletive] and lack common sense. Almost like u were raised by animals,” she retorted.

She also revealed that she had ignored her manager’s advice to avoid sharing unreleased material, admitting that her efforts to be transparent with fans had led to unintended consequences.

“@iamstillpunch U been told me stop sharing snippets and tea. Thought I was on to something. I’m clear now,” she wrote, adding, “I was tryna be kind to u [expletive] and give u more than u asked for against Punch’s judgment. No worries, that’s dead now.”
