Ghanaian rapper Kwame Yogot has sparked a heated conversation on social media with his recent critique of Stonebwoy’s song Jejereje.
Yogot, known for his witty and playful rap style, took to his platform to share his thoughts after listening to the track. In his statement, he boldly compared Jejereje to Shatta Wale’s popular hit Mahama Paper, suggesting that Stonebwoy’s song is essentially a sample of the earlier track.
“I just finished listening to Jejereje…it’s a complete Shatta Wale Mahama Paper sample…I’m talking to music listeners, not anybody,” Kwame Yogot wrote.
His comment quickly ignited a debate among fans of both artists, with many defending Stonebwoy while others seemed to agree with Yogot’s observation.
Yogot’s remark came as a surprise, especially since Stonebwoy is one of Ghana’s most revered dancehall artists. Jejereje, a track from his latest album, has been praised for its strong rhythms and distinctive style.
However, the comparison to Mahama Paper—a track that Shatta Wale released in 2015 and became a political anthem during the election period—adds an interesting twist to the discourse around Stonebwoy’s song.
Fans of Shatta Wale were quick to react, some thanking Yogot for pointing out the similarity, while others saw it as an unnecessary provocation.
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy’s fans defended the originality of Jejereje, arguing that while both tracks may share certain elements, they are distinct in style and message.
