Yvonne Atakora, the Director of Prosecution, has announced that new charges have been brought against Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM 1, after dropping the previous charges.
The decision to withdraw the existing charges and file fresh ones was made due to changes in the figures involved in the case against the former CEO of the collapsed gold company. According to Atakora, this move is in the best interests of the country.
The case has been adjourned until December 4, 2023, to allow NAM 1’s legal team to analyze the additional charges. The request for adjournment was made by NAM 1’s lawyers and agreed upon by the state attorney.
In light of recent events, the presiding judge has ordered enhanced security measures at the court entry. This decision was made after the defense team informed the court that the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of their team had been attacked following the previous court session.
Influencer and broadcast journalist Bridget Otoo recently faced a lawsuit from NAM1, the CEO of Menzgold, the defunct gold dealership company, for her continuous criticism of him, including labelling him a fraud.
The CEO is seeking a substantial amount of one million Ghana cedis as compensation for the damage caused to his reputation. As per the writ of summons sighted by Tru News Report, Bridget Otoo was given a deadline of one week to respond to the lawsuit and appear in court.
In a previous incident, Bridget Otoo had tweeted that Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM1, was able to roam freely due to his connections, while Akuapem Poloo, who had only shared nude photos of herself and her son, faced legal consequences.
“NAM1 is still free and doing Instagram post. A man described by the state as a scammer. A man whose actions has killed people, rendered thousands jobless and some are at the point of suicide! He’s free cos he’s connected! #AkuapemPoloo,” she wrote on X formerly known as Twitter.
In a different encounter, Bridget Otoo slammed NAM 1 for still defrauding customers through Menzgold’s Digital Verification Access Card. She said that more people would have been spared from Nana Appiah Mensah’s criminal activities if he had been imprisoned when he was just starting out. Click here to read more.
