As Ghana’s Special Prosecutor (SP) intensifies investigations into alleged corruption under the Akufo-Addo administration, the Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Abraham Amaliba, has urged officials in the current Mahama-led government to remain accountable and transparent in their dealings.
During a public discussion, Amaliba cautioned his fellow government appointees, reminding them that the Special Prosecutor’s current focus on former officials, including ex-Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, does not mean that the present administration will be spared from scrutiny.
“This is the time that his hands are [Special Prosecutor] free, but we government appointees must also know that after he’s done with former executives [officials], he will be coming after us.

“I don’t know what time he’s going to come, but when the wrongs are committed in our administration and he comes after our people, we mustn’t start calling him names.
“The fact that he’s doing this because people voted for accountability doesn’t mean that the accountability will not be extended to us who are in power today. And that is the question I want to give to our appointees,” he stated.
His remarks come as the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) pursues high-profile corruption cases involving former government officials.
On February 12, the OSP declared Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four major corruption investigations, including those tied to the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML).
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, further declared Ofori-Atta wanted, ordering his immediate return to the country for questioning or risk legal action.
