His protective instincts as a husband were immediately on display as he tried to downplay the severity of the accident to avoid causing her undue stress. “So, I said it was a small accident,” he added, attempting to reassure her.
However, his wife insisted on seeing the extent of his injuries. “She said she wanted to see it. When I showed it to her, she almost passed out.
She wept because it was a lot to handle,” Badu shared. The gospel singer’s efforts to protect his pregnant wife from the distressing news reveal the delicate balance of supporting loved ones through difficult times while managing their own fears and anxieties.

Just days after the accident, Badu was scheduled to perform at his highly anticipated “Rhythms of Africa” concert in Accra.
Despite undergoing surgery and facing significant physical challenges, he decided to go ahead with the performance. “I forced myself to preach at two churches, delivering three hours at one and four hours at another,” Badu had previously shared.
He also attended a five-hour rehearsal the same evening, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his craft.
The concert, held on December 9, 2023, was a resounding success, featuring performances by gospel stars such as MOG Music, Perez Musik, and Joe Mettle.
