Maryanne Trump Barry, a judge in the federal appellate court and the elder sister of former President Donald Trump has died at the age of 86.

Medical personnel were called to her Fifth Avenue apartment in Manhattan after 4 a.m. ET on Monday, where she was pronounced dead.

The New York Police Department spokesperson confirmed that there were no signs of foul play or trauma. Barry was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit by former President Bill Clinton in 1999. Despite her brother’s constant media attention, she kept a low profile.

She served on the Philadelphia-based appeals court for two decades before retiring in the midst of a civil misconduct investigation related to her family’s alleged tax evasion schemes.

Her retirement in 2019 ended the investigation, which focused on whether she violated judicial conduct rules by participating in the schemes. In 2020, Maryanne’s niece, Mary Trump, revealed that she had secretly recorded audio of Barry criticizing her brother Donald for his “lying” and “cruelty” as president.

In those recordings, Barry recounted how Donald had helped secure her nomination to the federal judiciary by having his then-attorney Roy Cohn place calls to the Reagan administration.

Donald Trump, a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has two surviving siblings: his middle sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau, and Maryanne. Unfortunately, their brother, Fred Trump Jr., passed away at the age of 42 in 1981 due to complications related to alcoholism. Additionally, Donald’s younger brother, Robert Trump, sadly passed away at the age of 71 in 2020.
