December, a month brimming with festive cheer and economic activity, might not be the best time for elections—at least not according to Bullgod.
The outspoken entertainment pundit recently proposed a shift in Ghana’s election calendar, suggesting that an earlier date could minimize disruptions to the country’s financial flow.
“We could move it to November, like they do in the Americas, or even earlier. What’s stopping us? It’s just one day,” he said during an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning.
For Bullgod, elections held during December risk overshadowing the economic potential of the holiday season, a period when businesses rely heavily on increased spending.

He argued that the timing affects investment, stating, “A lot of money flows into the system around that time, but the political climate creates uncertainty. Why not allow the economy to thrive by holding elections before December?”
Bullgod’s suggestion also touches on the broader need for flexibility in traditions. “The constants in life have changed. We can’t stay stuck in our ways unless we’re certain the revenue generated in December is negligible. Otherwise, this timing doesn’t make sense,” he added.
The idea of moving Ghana’s elections isn’t new. In 2016, discussions about rescheduling voting to November gained traction but failed due to logistical challenges.
While some see the proposal as a practical move to protect December’s economic vibrancy, others view the current timing as a symbol of Ghana’s democratic heritage.
