Shatta Wale has opened up about the divine inspiration behind his hit song “ON GOD” during an appearance on Efia Odo’s Bants And Confession podcast.
The dancehall artist shared that the track was born out of a period of emotional turmoil when Ghanaians began comparing him to rising star Black Sherif.
Feeling hurt and surprised by the comparisons, Shatta Wale described himself as a career breaker.

“I didn’t plan to make ‘ON GOD’ at first,” he admitted. “But those comparisons got to me, and I felt something special guiding me.”
In a rather mystical turn, Shatta Wale revealed that he felt a spiritual presence guiding him during the recording process. “I sat down to record the song and angels were in my room. That’s what people didn’t know. The song was so spiritual to me before it came out.
“So when I sit down and see all these comparisons, I go like, please don’t try and fight what you don’t know,” Shatta Wale disclosed. Describing himself as one of God’s favourites, he claimed that whenever he’s attacked, celestial beings come to his defence.
“I am like the phoenix,” he declared, referencing the mythical bird that rises from its ashes. This isn’t the first time Shatta Wale has linked his music to a higher power. He often speaks about how his faith influences his music and his journey.
