CONMEBOL has announced that Shakira would headline the Copa America finals with a performance.
She is set to be the first musical performer during the halftime show of the final match, scheduled for Sunday (July 14) at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla.
“Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has dazzled the entire world. Her songs are sung and danced to in every corner of the planet, turning her art into a global phenomenon that crosses borders and is enjoyed by millions of people.
“We are sure that her performance at the Copa América USA 2024 will enhance the message of healthy passion and unity through sport,” said Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL, in a statement.
She is set to make a comeback on stage, performing a mix of her classic anthems and her most recent chart-toppers, as stated in the announcement.
As of now, more than 54,000 fans have already bought tickets for the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 final.
The remaining tickets are available on the Copa America website, which is the tournament’s exclusive official seller.
Following the success of her latest album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” one of the most-streamed albums of the year, Shakira will kick off her highly anticipated world tour on November 2.
The tour will commence in Palm Desert, CA, and will feature a total of 17 concerts throughout the United States.
Shakira, a Colombian singer-songwriter and multi-GRAMMY award winner, has sold over 95 million records globally and has received numerous awards, including three GRAMMYs, 12 Latin Grammys, as well as several World Music Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.
She holds the record for being the most-viewed female Latin artist and is ranked among the top 10 artists of all time on YouTube with over 27 billion views.
Furthermore, she is the most-streamed female Latin artist of all time on Spotify.
