Ghanaian filmmaker Yaw Skyface has strongly disagreed with artiste manager Bullgod’s claim that shooting music videos in 2025 is a waste of resources.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM, Skyface argued that dismissing traditional music videos is unfair to artists and the industry as a whole.
“I was disappointed. It wasn’t a good thing for him to say because it was like saying artistes doing live bands aren’t relevant in 2025,” he said.
“If it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for anybody. Maybe he did it for his artiste and it didn’t work, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for any artiste.”

His response comes after Bullgod suggested that artists should prioritize short-form content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram instead of spending money on full-length music videos. According to Bullgod, the shift in audience engagement makes traditional videos less relevant.
However, Skyface countered that music videos contribute to an artist’s brand, visibility, and credibility.
“You don’t expect TV stations that have set up to play music videos to play visualisers. They won’t do that because of the quality,” he pointed out.
While acknowledging that short clips can help with promotion, he cautioned against abandoning well-produced music videos entirely.
“There are a lot of artistes you will respect because of the way their music videos are and also how they portray themselves in a certain way,” he noted.
