Ghanaian socialite and influencer Samuel Safo, popularly known as Showboy, has come to the defense of celebrated rapper Sarkodie amid backlash over his recent “Back to Gari Soakings” comment.
In a candid and fiery response, Showboy made it clear that threats against the rapper will not go unanswered, stressing the importance of respecting the law and understanding the weight of Sarkodie’s influence.
“Sarkodie is not the only NPP supporter; I am also an NPP guy,” Showboy declared in a video that has since gone viral. “So if you want to confront someone, then come and confront all of us. If he responded to ‘Gari Soakings,’ so what? Isn’t he a rapper? You all should learn to think.”
The controversy began when Sarkodie, known for his lyrical prowess and social commentary, responded to criticism with a cryptic post referencing “Gari Soakings,” a local term often symbolizing economic hardship.

While the post stirred laughter among fans, it also attracted criticism, including threats from individuals who felt targeted by his comment.
Showboy expressed his disapproval of the threats, warning those involved to tread cautiously. “If it’s attention you desire, learn how to get it. You can’t be threatening Sarkodie because if something happens to him, the law will take action. You will be arrested,” he cautioned.
Addressing a specific video circulating on social media, where a man was seen hurling insults and making threats against the rapper, Showboy did not hold back. “Brother, the laws in the country are in place, and you shouldn’t mess with him.
If something happens to him, then you will realize how many people support him. The same NDC you are opposing will deny any involvement because the political party does not condone violence.”
