U.S.-based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Ekow Taylor has delivered a scathing rebuke of renowned rapper Sarkodie, accusing him of hypocrisy, tribalism, and selective commentary on Ghanaian politics.
The fiery criticism followed a cryptic tweet by Sarkodie after John Dramani Mahama’s second term inauguration, where the rapper wrote, “Back to gari soakings like we never left.”
The comment, widely interpreted as a jab at the new NDC administration, ignited heated debates online.
Kevin Taylor, known for his outspoken views, did not mince words in addressing Sarkodie’s tweet. According to Taylor, the rapper’s actions highlight a double standard that cannot be ignored. “Sarkodie is nothing but a hypocrite.

“Where was he when the NPP was in power, and people were suffering? He remained silent, enjoying favours, but now he suddenly finds his voice to criticize Mahama and the NDC? That is hypocrisy of the highest order,” Taylor said.
He went further, accusing Sarkodie of stoking tribal tensions, claiming the artist’s actions reveal an underlying bias.
“Sarkodie has shown over the years that he’s a tribal bigot. His so-called neutrality is just a front, but his actions and words always betray him. He’s a danger to the unity of Ghanaian politics,” he fumed.
Taylor also attacked Sarkodie’s character, questioning the rapper’s motivations for weighing in on political matters.
“This broke a** musician thinks he can just jump on social media and tweet nonsense, thinking no one will call him out. Well, I’m here to set the record straight,” he declared.
