In a heartfelt letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Samuel Awuku, the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has officially tendered his resignation, effective January 13, 2025.

Awuku’s decision stems from his recent election as the Member of Parliament for the Akuapem North Constituency, a role he is determined to dedicate his full attention to.

“I write to formally inform you of my resignation as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) effective 13th January 2025,” Awuku stated in the letter.

“I have been elected as the Member of Parliament for the Akuapem North constituency and have been duly sworn in to represent my constituents. In light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament.”

Awuku, who has served as the Director-General of the NLA since August 2021, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the institution’s growth and success.

He also recalled receiving confirmation for the role from the Public Services Commission in July 2022.

Reflecting on his transition, Awuku requested the appointment of a replacement to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

“I kindly request that you appoint a replacement for the position of Director-General to facilitate a smooth transition and handover of responsibilities,” he wrote.

Awuku used the opportunity to convey his best wishes to the President, saying, “I take this opportunity to wish you well in all your endeavors.”
