Sammi Awuku Tells NPP What It Must Do To Win 2024 Elections

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National organiser Sammi Awuku has stated that the party will have a hard time winning the parliamentary and presidential elections in 2024.

He argues that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a long way to go before it can gain the support trust of Ghanaian voters in 2024.

Speaking during an NPP Youth Mentorship program in Accra, Sammi Awuku said “In 2024, we have to work times two to win the elections; I’m being brutally frank. In 2016, there was a considerable level of agitation for change, and the very reason why your campaign in 2024 will be different is that the campaign in opposition is different from a campaign when you are in government.

“If nothing will remind you, what should remind you is that when you are in opposition, you use change; when you are in government, you use continuity.”

Since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1992, power has flipped between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) every eight years.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a goal of “breaking the 8,” meaning they will remain in power after the 2024 election.

Sammi Awuku recently stated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will make a great president. He claims that Dr. Bawumia will be an excellent candidate for president since he is a young guy with a courageous and optimistic vision for the future.
