Sam George has been confirmed as the new Minister for Communications, Digitalization, and Innovations, securing approval through a majority consensus after the Minority in Parliament opted to abstain from the vote.
The Minority initially planned to push for a secret ballot, citing concerns over George’s past comments and conduct during his vetting process.
However, after a series of appeals from influential members of the House, they decided to step back from the process, prioritizing a move toward restraint to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin explained that the decision to abstain was a conscious choice, aimed at defusing tensions and steering clear of further divisive disputes.
In addition to George’s appointment, Parliament also approved the nominations of Rashid Pelpuo, Kofi Adams, and two other ministers-designate, all of whom are now set to be sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama.
This approval came after a rigorous debate and voting session that underscored Parliament’s commitment to careful scrutiny of executive appointments.
