In a recent episode of UTV’s United Showbiz, Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Salma Mumin shared her thoughts on media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay.
Salma, who has been a guest on Delay’s show before, expressed her discomfort with the way Delay conducts her interviews. Salma recounted her own experience, describing how Delay’s demeanour, expressions, and style of questioning can make guests feel like they are under attack.
“Sometimes you might think it is personal because of her demeanour, her expression, and how she asks her questions; sometimes you might feel you are under attack,” Salma said. Salma’s comments came in the wake of Delay’s recent interview with the late founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor.

Salma felt that Delay’s approach was disrespectful and unprofessional, noting that the persistence in asking the same questions over and over again felt like a deliberate attempt to embarrass the guest.
Salma compared Delay’s style unfavourably to that of American singer Beyoncé, who ensures her interviews are planned to avoid any disrespectful interactions.
“When you ask your guest a question and they answer, it should end there. If you keep hammering on the same question, it’s like you are expecting a different answer… It means you have evil intentions,” Salma emphasized.
Salma’s critique has sparked a broader conversation about the ethics of interviewing and respectful engagement in Ghanaian media.
Her comments have resonated with many who believe that interviewers should be mindful of their tone and approach to ensure a positive and respectful experience for their guests.
