Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has openly criticized the supporters of Ghanaian clergyman Elisha Salifu Amoako following the tragic East Legon accident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls.
In his recent appearance on the popular television program United Showbiz monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, Arnold expressed his disappointment, suggesting that poor parenting may have played a significant role in the incident.
The accident, which resulted in the deaths of Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu, involved Elrod Amoako, the son of Pastor Salifo Amoako.
The tragedy has sparked widespread grief and outrage, with many seeking answers as to how such a horrific event could have occurred. Arnold did not hold back in his critique of the clergyman, highlighting that the accident could have been prevented had there been more responsible guidance in Elrod’s life.
“Salifu Amoako failed as a parent. We can’t shy away from that,” Baidoo remarked during the show, emphasizing the need for parents, especially those in influential positions, to set better examples for their children.
Drawing a comparison to Archbishop Duncan Williams, Baidoo pointed to the archbishop’s public acknowledgement of his own failings as a father.
“Duncan Williams was man enough to admit his mistakes with his son Deewills. He openly regretted not being there during his children’s formative years, which had a lasting impact on their lives. Salifo Amoako should have taken control of his son’s reckless behaviour long before this tragedy happened.”
His comments were a direct response to some of the panellists on United Showbiz who defended the clergyman, suggesting that he couldn’t be held accountable for his son’s actions.
However, Arnold argued that as a parent, Salifo Amoako had a responsibility to instil discipline and guide his children toward responsible behaviour.
“This wasn’t just a freak accident. It’s a reflection of how neglect and lack of proper parenting can lead to devastating consequences. The signs were there, and something should have been done sooner.”

The deaths of Maame Dwomoh Boateng and Justine Agbenu have left the East Legon community and the entire nation mourning.
As more details about the accident emerge, attention has increasingly focused on the need for parental accountability, especially among public figures like Pastor Salifu Amoako.
“It’s not enough to preach on the pulpit or maintain a public image. What happens behind closed doors is just as important, if not more so,” Arnold asserted.
For Baidoo, the message is clear: “We need to hold people accountable—not just for what happens in public, but for what happens in their homes. This accident didn’t have to happen, and two innocent lives were lost because of it.”
His comments, while blunt, have sparked a wider discussion on the responsibilities of parenting and the consequences when those responsibilities are neglected.
