In an incident of mistaken identity, rapper T.I. was arrested on Sunday, August 4, at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, according to TMZ.
A warrant had been issued for another individual who shares the rapper’s real name, Clifford Harris, and who is wanted in Baltimore, Maryland.
The individual in question is accused of stalking and exhibiting violent behaviour towards a woman, potentially involving a firearm. Following his arrest, T.I. was taken from the airport to Clayton County Jail. Due to the out-of-state nature of the warrant, this led to an automatic extradition hearing.
T.I.’s attorney, Steve Sadow, informed TMZ that he communicated with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office and successfully secured T.I.’s release within two hours. Ultimately, the judge reviewed the circumstances and dismissed the extradition order. T.I. and his family are no strangers to media attention.
Last year, during an Atlanta Falcons NFL game, T.I., his wife Tiny, and their son King Harris were involved in a public altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation between father and son.
This dispute, which the 19-year-old broadcasted on Instagram, arose from T.I. and Tiny’s assertions that King could not comprehend the challenges of growing up in poverty.
Earlier this year, T.I. and Tiny strongly refuted renewed allegations of sexual assault in a lawsuit dating back to 2005.
The plaintiff, known only as Jane Doe, accused the couple of battery, negligence, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. T.I. and Tiny issued a statement asserting their innocence regarding these “false claims” and emphasized their refusal to be extorted.
