President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

This appointment, effective January 21, 2025, was confirmed in an official letter from the Office of the President, signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.

The decision underscores President Mahama’s commitment to stabilizing and steering Ghana’s cocoa sector, a key pillar of the nation’s economy. Dr. Abbey’s appointment is pending the constitutionally mandated advice of the COCOBOD board and consultation with the Public Services Commission.

The letter, addressed to Dr. Abbey, reads in part: “I take this opportunity to formally congratulate you on your appointment. Please accept the President’s best wishes.”

Copies of the correspondence were shared with key officials, including the Vice President, Chief of Staff, and the Ministers of Finance and Food and Agriculture.
