King Promise has paid homage to Tema-based group R2bees, crediting them for inspiring him to strive for success and become a prominent artist.
The Afrobeats singer who was discovered by rapper Sarkodie revealed to Bola Ray on Starr Chat that he has worked diligently to attain international recognition, a goal he has accomplished.
He said upon hearing R2Bees’ hit song Slow Down for the first time a decade ago, he knew that creating similar music was the key to becoming a global music sensation.
“That has always been the goal from the very start. From the very first time I heard R2Bees Slow down I said this is the type of person I want to be.
“If I’m making music, I want to make music that cuts across not just Ghana but the rest of the continent and the rest of the world. I’ve worked towards that and at this point in life it is beautiful but for me, this is only the beginning,” he told Bola Ray.
Meanwhile, Efia Odo has been vocal in her support for King Promise to win the Artiste of the Year at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TMGA).
She recently took to social media to express her opinion, stating that Stonebwoy is no match for King Promise when it comes to the award.
In a recent post, Efia criticized Stonebwoy for his obsession with awards and his rivalry with King Promise.
She mentioned that Stonebwoy’s desire for the Artiste of the Year award is fueled by his rivalry with Shatta Wale, who has previously won the award.
Efia also highlighted that rapper Sarkodie has won the award twice, which has led Stonebwoy to aggressively campaign for the award, claiming that he deserves it more than anyone else.
