R. Kelly Sues Federal Prison Bureau Over Alleged Leaking Of Private Information To Tasha K

Renowned singer R. Kelly has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Prison Bureau, alleging the illegal dissemination of private information to YouTube host Tasha K, the same YouTube gossip host that Cardi B sued for defamation last year.

In a complaint submitted on Monday (Nov. 13) in Chicago federal court, Kelly’s legal representatives allege that an unidentified Bureau of Prisons (BOP) agent illicitly accessed Kelly’s digital prison records. These records, which included private phone call recordings with his girlfriend and legal counsel, email correspondence, private calls, visitor logs, etc., were purportedly sold to Tasha and subsequently broadcast online to an audience exceeding one million followers, potentially compromising R. Kelly’s privacy and legal proceedings.

“The defendant United States of America breached its duty of care to the plaintiff when it allowed countless BOP officers to access the plaintiff’s confidential information without any legal basis to do so,” Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean states.

The lawsuit, which also identifies Tasha K. (Latasha Kebe) as a defendant, alleges that the influencer then encouraged her extensive following to harass the plaintiff using the stolen information, leading to chaos in the plaintiff’s personal life.

According to the lawsuit, the leaked details left Kelly feeling “isolated and fearful,” making him hesitant to communicate with his attorneys or other third parties due to the potential for the information to be “released to the general public for mass exploitation.”

In 2021, Kelly was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking charges related to allegations of orchestrating a prolonged scheme to exploit women.

Subsequently, in September 2022, he faced another conviction in Chicago on distinct federal charges of child pornography and enticing minors for sexual acts. Currently, the singer is appealing both convictions, and he has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
