Kate Middleton’s daughter, the Princess, has recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and has commenced chemotherapy.

In a heartfelt video message released on Friday, she expressed how challenging the past two months have been for her entire family.

This news comes shortly after King Charles III announced his own battle with cancer and subsequent treatment in early February.

Kate, who underwent abdominal surgery in January and withdrew from public life to recover, has chosen to keep the details of her specific cancer type private.

She kindly requested that the public and media respect her need for privacy during this difficult time.

“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment,” said Catherine, who is the wife of Prince William and a future queen.

“This of course came as a huge shock,” Kate said, “and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.”

Kate stated that during her surgery, the doctors were under the impression that her condition was not cancerous. She mentioned that the surgery went well, however, subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer. The doctors advised her to undergo chemotherapy, which she confirmed she had recently started.

“It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment,” Kat said in the video. “But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”

Recorded by BBC Studios in Windsor on Wednesday, the video released by Kensington Palace shows Catherine seated on a bench outdoors, with blooming daffodils and trees as the backdrop.

With her hands clasped on her lap, she expresses gratitude to the public for their supportive messages during her recovery from surgery and then proceeds to reveal her diagnosis.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and, at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous.

The surgery was successful,” she said. “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
