President Muhammadu Buhari has cast his vote in Daura, Katsina State.

The Nigerian leader got to the polling place early and was seen showing his ballot to people who were nearby. Buhari told reporters afterward that he hopes Nigerians will be able to vote for whomever they choose without fear.

President Muhammadu Buhari emerged as the All Progressives Congress party’s presidential nominee for the 2015 general election. Buhari defeated incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to win the election. This was the first time in Nigeria’s history that a sitting president lost a national election. He was inaugurated on May 29, 2015. Buhari was re-elected in February 2019, defeating his closest opponent, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, by more than 3 million votes.
