Recently, Nigerian artist Portable sparked significant controversy after he slapped a preacher outside his popular bar, an incident that was recorded and went viral, eliciting mixed reactions from the public.
In a live Instagram broadcast, Portable was seen demanding that the preacher vacate his establishment immediately, asserting that the man was disrupting the tranquility of both himself and his patrons.
The footage faced backlash from many Nigerians, given the country’s strong religious sentiments.
In light of the criticism, Portable took to his Instagram on September 16, 2024, to explain that his sister had been assaulted by an individual impersonating a pastor just weeks before.
“They want to set me up. He was not a man of God, and if he was a man of God, may God forgive me for slapping him. If I knew he was a real man of God, I won’t have slapped him. The way he acted was why I slapped him, I’m a human being and I’m not perfect,” Portable.
