Drones will be used by the Ghana Police Service to monitor conflict and violence in real-time during today’s by-election Assin North Constituency.

Additionally, no weapons of any kind will be permitted at the voting places during an election that will be tightly supervised by ordinary police officers. The Ghana Police Service has implemented these as part of its measures to guarantee a peaceful election.

They are a part of the guidelines for the by-election that were set during a meeting on Monday in Assin Bereku with party leaders and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

These have been put into place by the Ghana Police Service as part of its security preparations to ensure a peaceful election. The party leaders and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, met on Monday in Assin Bereku to establish the ground rules for the by-election.

According to a report culled from Graphic Online, the IGP warned the political parties to follow the election’s regulations and refrain from any actions that would jeopardize the region’s security. The Police Administration issued a warning to everyone to refrain from actions that would disturb the tranquillity of the area while guaranteeing the voters of a peaceful election.

Dr Dampare informed the media shortly after the meeting that motorcyclists would not be permitted at polling places. Additionally, voters would not be permitted to bring their smartphones into the polls.
