Police Arrest One Person In Connection With Shooting Of Soldier At Kasoa

The Ghana Police Service has made an arrest in connection with the shooting incident that resulted in the death of a soldier in Kasoa.

One Benlord Ababio has been arrested in connection to the crime pending further investigation.

The incident took place on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at around 4:20 pm in Millenium City, Kasoa, causing shockwaves throughout the community.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Benlord Ababio is believed to have fatally shot the soldier.

The victim’s identity has not been disclosed pending family notification, and he was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for medical treatment

Despite efforts to save him, the soldier passed away from his injuries, as confirmed by hospital authorities. In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 1st, the Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to swiftly capture the perpetrator(s) responsible for this heinous act.

Below is the full statement released by the Police:

1. The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident which occurred at Millenium City, Kasoa, in the Central Region, leading to the death of a soldier.

2. Preliminary Police investigation has established that the suspect, Benlord Ababio allegedly shot the soldier at Millenum City Kasoa on Tuesday, 30th April 2024, at about 4:20 pm. The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Kasoa for medical attention. However, he was later pronounced dead by the medical authorities.

3. Suspect Benlord Ababio is currently in custody assisting Police investigation. 4. The leadership of the Police Service is in touch with the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces as investigation into the incident continues.
