Phyno Claps Back at Fan Who Says He and Olamide Should Quit Music

Nigerian rapper Phyno has always been known for his sharp lyricism, but this time, his cutting wit took centre stage on social media.

A user on X, Santorini (@KinqKudos), sparked controversy by suggesting that Phyno and fellow rapper Olamide should call it quits in the music industry.

The user expressed that both rappers no longer “have the juice,” and even questioned why anyone would still be listening to them in 2024.

The comment, dismissing the legacies and relevance of two of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, quickly caught Phyno’s attention.

In a response that has since gone viral, the rapper fired back with a terse and biting remark in his native Igbo language.

Phyno’s response, “Akpa amu gi there,” which translates to “your b@lls,” was accompanied by a fist emoji, underscoring his no-nonsense attitude.

Phyno’s clapback resonated strongly with his fans, who applauded his refusal to tolerate disrespect.

Phyno and Olamide have built impressive careers over the years, consistently delivering hits that have shaped Nigeria’s Afrobeats and hip-hop landscape.

Their collaborations, such as the chart-topping track “Fada Fada,” are still regarded as classics, further cementing their places in music history. Though trends in the music industry may shift, Phyno’s retort reminds him that he isn’t ready to be counted out just yet.

The viral exchange also sparked a larger conversation about the pressures artists face to remain constantly relevant in an ever-evolving industry.

Many pointed out that even though newer artists are emerging, veteran musicians like Phyno and Olamide have laid the groundwork for the thriving Nigerian music industry and deserve respect for their contributions.

With Phyno’s swift and sharp response making waves across social media, it’s clear that he still has plenty of fire left—and he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
