Photos of the policeman who was fatally shot during a brazen daylight robbery at Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra have been shared on social media.
The incident occurred when some robbers looted a filling station in the Ablekuma Fan Milk neighbourhood of Accra. Tragically, as a result of their illegal conduct, a police officer who was accompanying a bullion truck while on duty was shot and killed.
The unidentified policeman was reportedly sitting in the front of the car when the attackers struck, viciously firing numerous shots at close range. To apprehend the robbers, the Ghana Police immediately began a manhunt operation.
The four suspects who were allegedly engaged in the robbery and the police officer’s murder were identified thanks to their persistent work, and they were afterwards apprehended.
Immediately after the robbery took place, the police released the following statement regarding the ongoing investigation:
“The Police are on a manhunt to arrest a gang of four robbers who attacked a bullion van at Ablekuma Fanmilk, a suburb of Accra, and shot the police escort who has unfortunately passed on. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of our deceased colleague in particular and all personnel of the Police Service in general. We wish to assure the public that we will surely get the robbers arrested to face justice.”
