Grammy-winning producer and Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Directo, Pharrell Williams has publicly responded to Drake’s comments about his jewellery, which stirred controversy earlier this year.
In an interview with GG Magazine on November 13, Pharrell addressed the situation, reflecting on Drake’s purchase of his jewellery and the rapper’s subsequent threat to melt down some of the pieces.

In 2022, Pharrell auctioned off a significant portion of his jewellery, and in hindsight, he expressed how freeing it was to part with the items.
“You never realize how much all the stuff you have weighs on you, but it does. You don’t know it until you get rid of it,” he shared. “When you let that go, man, you feel so free.”
The discussion shifted to Drake’s verse in Meltdown from Travis Scott’s album, where Drake rapped about melting down Pharrell’s chains, dismissing their sentimental value.
Pharrell remained unbothered by the comments, saying, “It didn’t strike me.” He added, “Beyond all of the on-goings, at the heart of all of it, he’s a fan of music. He’s a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that.”
The rapper’s verse reignited his feud with Pusha T, referencing his past purchase of Pharrell’s jewellery—worth a reported $3.3 million
Drake rapped about melting down chains like the 14K N.E.R.D pendant and others, disregarding their “heritage” as part of the larger narrative of his own career.

Despite the diss, Pharrell refrained from escalating the conflict. He appreciated Drake’s appreciation for the music industry’s legacy, calling it the essence of their shared work.
Drake’s purchase of Pharrell’s jewellery, including pieces like the N.E.R.D pendant and a brain pendant, came amid his ongoing rivalry with Pusha T, which was reignited with the release of Meltdown. The rapper has since been seen wearing the items in his music video for “Jumbotron Shit Poppin.”
