The internet has been buzzing with heated debates after a viral complaint by Omotayo Zinnat about a bowl of pepper soup from celebrity chef Hilda Baci’s restaurant, My Food By Hilda.
What started as a critique of food portions has spiraled into a conversation about societal expectations, gender roles, and customer service.
Omotayo, in a video, expressed her disappointment after spending N6,000 on a bowl of pepper soup.
She described the portion as small, unappealing, and went as far as to say it resembled “dog vomit.” Explaining her reasons for ordering the dish, she said she had a tough day at work, wasn’t feeling well, and opted for the meal because she was too tired to cook.
Social media critic Verydarkman (VDM) wasted no time weighing in on the matter, taking a firm stance that sparked further debate.

In a video response, he said, “This world don really spoil o. Thinking about it, they said na wokeness and civilization. Before, women dey shame to say dem buy food for restaurant. Dem dey always look am like say dem dey pay for another woman’s food.”
VDM went on to criticize the changing dynamics of modern life, particularly in relation to women and cooking.
“No matter how tired a woman is before, she go cook for herself as a single woman. Because she go dey prepare herself for when she is married; would I tell my husband and children that I am tired; let’s order food? It doesn’t make sense,” he stated.
His comments didn’t stop there. Addressing Omotayo’s video directly, he added, “But look at this one, she come out freely to say how much is kilo of chicken? Why can’t you use the energy to cook even if it’s noodles? As a woman, you have no right to make such a complaint.”
While VDM acknowledged that the portion size and quality of the food from Hilda Baci’s restaurant could have been better, his critique centered more on what he perceived as the decline of traditional values.
“Coming from someone like Hilda Baci, the food portion should’ve been more appealing,” he remarked, balancing his harsh critique with mild agreement.
