Ghanaian skitmaker Akonoba has shared a heartfelt story about the challenges he faced in gaining his parents’ approval for his career as a content creator.
In an emotional interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on The Delay Show, Akonoba opened up about the initial tension between him and his family, particularly his father, when he first ventured into the world of skit-making.
“When I started, my parents didn’t approve of it,” Akonoba revealed. “As the firstborn, we even had a little misunderstanding, but we eventually worked through it. I moved out of my father’s house to resolve the issue.”

This revelation sheds light on the often difficult dynamics that many young people face when pursuing unconventional career paths, especially in the entertainment industry.
For Akonoba, the road to acceptance was not easy, as his parents, especially his father, struggled to understand the nature of his work.
However, the situation began to change as Akonoba’s popularity grew. As he gained recognition for his creative skits, people began reaching out to his father, explaining the value of his work and how it was positively impacting others.
“People called him to talk to him, and he gave in. When they saw there was no negativity surrounding what I was doing, they eventually gave me their full support,” he shared.
