Veteran actor and filmmaker, Patrick Doyle has shared a controversial statement buzzing entertainment news all over the internet after he attributed Tems‘ BET Award to Satan.
In a post shared on Facebook, Doyle, known for his roles as a pastor in various screen productions, claimed that Satan controls the music industry.
He expressed disbelief at a secular artist like Tems winning the Dr Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational award at the 2024 BET Awards, beating out established gospel stars such as Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music.
Tems won the award for her song ‘Me & U’ at the Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, United States.
Concerning Tems’ win, Doyle advised gospel singers, particularly those who are devout Christians, to avoid seeking validation from the entertainment industry.
He wrote; “I feel the pain of mainstream gospel artistes who feel slighted that an evidently secular musician, Tems was awarded for best gospel song.
“That said, I believe it is about time that committed Christians should stop seeking validation from fickle institutions like the entertainment industry mafia which by the way is in the grip of Satan.”
Patrick is a Nigerian veteran actor and broadcaster who was popular in the 1990s for his roles as a pastor or a religious leader.
Doyle originally from Delta state attended Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka and Federal Radio Cooperation Nigeria.
He went into broadcasting at the age of 20 where he was working with the Voice of Nigeria (VON) and Nigeria Television Authority before he then became a consultant at Silverbird TV.
