Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson sat in the front row of the Caucus in Parliament, joined by his deputies Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, and Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim.

A second deputy minority whip, Madam Comfort Doeyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, was also present. Mr. Armed Ibrahim and Ms. Cudjoe-Ghansah were the only two members of the previous administration to be kept on.

On Tuesday, a new minority caucus leadership team for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took office and began representing the NDC in parliamentary debates.

As the Third Session of the Eighth Parliament got underway yesterday, all eyes were on the Minority Caucus to see if they would present a united front or show loyalty to their new leadership.

Meanwhile, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, the former Deputy Minority Leader, and Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the former Minority Whip, were not in the Chamber on Tuesday. They were, however, on the floor before the meeting started.

During his opening speech, Speaker Alban Bagbin gave his best wishes to the new members of the Minority. Mr. Bagbin likewise extended his best wishes to the departing team members.

“The former members of the leadership of the Minority, led by Haruna Iddrisu, must be applauded too. Their record of performance is visible for all to see. And I hope the new leadership will continue to draw from their fountain of wisdom and wealth of experience.”

“I know what it entails to lead a populous minority caucus in Parliament. All I can say to the former leader is that the Lord is your shepherd, and you shall not want. When one door closes another opens”.
