As the December 7 election day looms with only 61 days to go, John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), seems to be engaging in some strategic moves aimed at winning over Christian voters.
Radio personality Afia Pokua, widely recognized as Vim Lady, reported that this strategy entailed his collaboration with prominent individuals within the Christian community, which occurred last week; however, it has generated discord among several significant stakeholders.
“What Mahama is doing these 61 days left for the December 7 election is to win the Christians to himself, and he’s being very strategic,” Vim Lady remarked during a recent radio interview.
She revealed that Mahama’s recent meeting with pastors in Accra was a calculated political move. However, she pointed out that the inclusion of Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah in the campaign is causing significant friction within Mahama’s own camp.
“The meeting he had with the pastors in Accra was a very shenanigans move,” she said. But, as she explained, the problem lies with the inclusion of Owusu Bempah, a well-known religious figure previously associated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His sudden appearance on Mahama’s side has raised questions about his loyalty.

Vim Lady continued, “The problem was Owusu Bempah, who he brought on board. I know he will insult me for mentioning him, but I don’t care about that. If you are a die-hard NDC supporter like Nigel Gaisie and Badu Kobi, you’ll be peeved.”
According to her, these two prominent prophets, Nigel Gaisie and Badu Kobi, have been staunch and consistent supporters of Mahama and the NDC through thick and thin.
Politics, she argued, is about loyalty, and these two men have demonstrated it. She reflected on how they stood by Mahama even during challenging times when NPP firebrand Kennedy Agyapong launched public attacks against them.
“Look at how Kennedy Agyapong dealt with them, but they were consistent and followed Mahama. Then last minute, Owusu Bempah came to take their glory—he crowns kings and Presidents in the country.”
For Badu Kobi and Nigel Gaisie, Owusu Bempah’s sudden rise in prominence feels like a betrayal. His involvement seems to overshadow their loyalty and dedication to the NDC, and there is now concern that the party might alienate these loyal prophets.
“NDC must play their cards very well with the Owusu Bempah issue, or else it might backfire,” Vim Lady warned, expressing concern that Owusu Bempah might not be genuinely committed to the cause.
“If Owusu Bempah was happy with NPP, would he have come to pray for you? They need to be careful and know if Owusu Bempah is genuine. However, they can use him for the campaign because they need the goodwill.”
Further adding to the drama, Vim Lady revealed that sources close to her indicate that Badu Kobi and Nigel Gaisie are not the only ones unhappy with the situation.
“Information available to me states that Badu Kobi, Nigel Gaisie, and others are not happy. Royal House Chapel’s Sam Korankye Ankrah and others are not happy,” she disclosed, adding that even a day before the meeting, some religious leaders were cautious about what Owusu Bempah would say during the discussions.
