At the ongoing 13th African game, Ghana once again outshined their eternal rivals, Nigeria, as the Black Princesses emerged victorious against the Super Falconets in their final match.

Predictably, Ghanaians flooded social media platforms to express their admiration for the team’s achievement, not only for securing another gold medal for Ghana but also for claiming the upper hand in the ‘Jollo derby.’

Furthermore, a significant number of Ghanaians expressed immense disappointment towards the Black Stars due to their lacklustre performances and failure to secure any trophies throughout the years.

Seizing the opportunity, they compared the Black Stars’ underwhelming displays to the remarkable performance of the Princesses, using it as a measuring stick.

Nana Aba Anamoah, the ace broadcaster, also joined in, criticizing the Black Stars players for their excessive pampering and inflated egos.

She expressed this sentiment on X (formerly Twitter) saying:

Good morning to the Black Princesses. Unlike some over pampered people with bloated egos, you know how to win gold. We love love love love you 🥰

Despite Ghana’s strong start in their match against Nigeria, fueled by the overwhelming crowd that filled the stadium, goalkeeper Afi Amenyeku’s mistake in the penalty box allowed Nigeria to seize the lead with a goal from Edeh Njideka in the 23rd minute, leaving the spectators on edge.

Despite this setback, the Princesses displayed resilience and dominated the first half, creating several scoring opportunities without converting any.

With the support of the enthusiastic crowd in Cape Coast, Yussif Basigi’s team equalized in the 77th minute thanks to Tracy Twum’s goal. The match remained level until the end of regulation time, leading to extra time.

Mukarama Abdulai found the back of the net in the 99th minute of play, after skillfully receiving a precise pass in the penalty area and slotting a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

Euphoria erupted as the noise levels soared at the Cape Coast Stadium. Despite a late surge from the Super Falconets, the Princesses managed to secure the victory.
