Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has lauded his party’s superior election collation system while casting doubt on the efficiency of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) approach.
Speaking with characteristic confidence, Dr. Omane Boamah emphasized how the NDC’s meticulous preparations ensured early results during the 2024 presidential elections.
“With over 37,000 presidential results from polling stations collated by our National Elections and IT Directorate way before 10 pm on election night, Bawumia was at a paltry 41.21%. Why will he not concede the following day?” he quipped, referencing the outcome that saw former President John Dramani Mahama securing a significant lead.
The NDC’s advanced collation system, dubbed “Eagle Eye,” reportedly allowed the party to monitor real-time data from polling stations nationwide, providing a clear and swift picture of the election’s trajectory.
Dr. Omane Boamah contrasted this efficiency with what he described as the NPP’s sluggish system, which he believes delayed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession.

“Dr. Bawumia actually delayed! He could have conceded that night IF AND ONLY IF the NPP Collation system was as fast as ours,” Dr. Omane Boamah remarked, adding a sharp critique of the NPP’s handling of election night.
The former Minister of Communications did not mince words about Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) either.
He labeled the EC as “incompetent” for taking until December 20, 2024, to gazette the presidential election results. “This delay is a testament to the Commission’s inefficiency, which undermines public confidence in the electoral process,” he noted.
Dr. Omane Boamah also shared a vivid memory from the NDC’s “Strong Room” on election night, painting a picture of teamwork and vigilance.
“John Dramani Mahama sat opposite me, wearing the #EAGLEEYES cap, with Joyce Bawah Mogtari on my left and Stan Xoese Dogbe on JM’s right,” he recounted, highlighting the commitment of key figures within the party.
The NDC’s victory in the 2024 elections has been attributed to its detailed groundwork and improved technological infrastructure.
