Amidst growing controversy over the Appointments Committee’s vetting process, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has come out strongly to defend the integrity of Parliament.
His comments follow allegations made by activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, who accused the committee of taking bribes from ministerial nominees to smoothen their approval.
Speaking during a heated session in Parliament, Annoh-Dompreh dismissed the claims as baseless and harmful to the institution’s reputation.
“These wild allegations are becoming one too many in our country. They are lowering our reputation as an arm of government and an institution of state,” he argued.
The minority MP emphasized the sacrifices Parliament had made to speed up the vetting process, stating that they had gone beyond their normal schedule to accommodate the executive’s needs.

“We have been most magnanimous to the executive. On days that we were not even supposed to vet, we went ahead—Monday, Friday—we did all that to facilitate the process,” he revealed.
However, he insisted that the current climate of accusations made it impossible to continue vetting nominees without first addressing the credibility concerns.
“Your directive makes sense, Mr. Chair, but we strongly disagree with you. Today, we cannot vet. If the majority does not value their reputation, we value ours!”
His firm rejection of the vetting process until the allegations are cleared has placed the executive and the majority caucus in a difficult position, as the process now hangs in the balance
