According to a new update, one of the inhabitants of Ashaiman who recently endured the widely denounced brutality at the hands of soldiers has reportedly passed away.

Alhaji Mohammed Musah, the deceased, is reported to have died after falling while the armed military men were pursuing the locals. On March 16, 2023, the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman Earnest Norgbey and attorney and Ashaiman Lives Matter spokesperson Emmanuel Kumadzi confirmed the claim to Accra-based Starr FM.

“The soldiers chased Alhaji Mohammed Musah to his house. So, when he got home, he fell and he already had a medical condition- High Blood Pressure. His blood pressure shot up caused by the soldiers chasing him to beat him, and he passed out, unfortunately,” starrfm.com.gh quotes Kumadzi as saying.

On Tuesday, March 7, just a day after Ghana’s Independence Day celebration, armed soldiers believed to have come from Michel and Burma Camps stormed Taifa on March 7, 2023, and assaulted the residents.

The brutality came after the murder of a young soldier named Imoro Sheriff, who was killed on March 4 while being attacked and returning from the home of a female friend.

However, the police have detained six suspects who are presently being held on remand and helping with investigations. 184 people were detained by the troops during the raid on Ashaiman, and they transported them to Burma Camp. Days later, 150 of them were released before the surviving 134.
