Okudzeto Ablakwa Accused Of Owing Ghc96,076 Unpaid Taxes

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has been accused of operating two unregistered businesses and owing over 90,000 Ghana cedis in back taxes.

The Movement For Justice – Ghana, represented by its convenor Kwaku Takyi Adomako and member Paa Kwesi Nimfah-Davis, wrote and dated the petition on February 14. In a letter sent to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the allegations demanded an investigation into the legal status of the two companies and their tax liabilities.

According to documents posted by The Pokuase Mail, the Group is asking the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for details regarding tax returns filed by Mr. Ablakwa for his company, Volta Klenam Farms and Industries Ltd, which the Group claims is not registered with the GRA and has not paid any taxes since its incorporation in 2021.

In the letter which was sent to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with the allegations says “I would like to bring to your attention that Savvi Solutions, a business of which Mr. Ablakwa was a Managing Director, according to the website of Parliament, was never registered with the Ghana Revenue Authority and has not filed any returns or paid taxes during its period of operation. I request that you confirm the accuracy of this information and take appropriate action.

It went on to say Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is running two unregistered businesses and unpaid taxes for over 90,000 Ghana cedis (about $15,000).

“I would also like to bring to your attention that Mr. Ablakwa has a tax liability Of GH$96,076.16 that the Ghana Revenue Authority has failed or neglected to collect. I kindly request that you take the necessary steps to request Mr. Ablakwa to pay his tax liability immediately.
