Oheneba Boamah Blames Ashantis For Ghana’s Problems Under The New Patriotic Party

Oheneba Boamah, host of Battleground on Power 97.9 FM, has criticized Ashanti voters for supporting President Akufo-Addo in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

The outspoken news anchor claimed on Wednesday night’s show that the majority of people who voted for the Akufo-Addo government in 2020 are Ashantis, and that this is why the country is in economic crisis.

Oheneba criticized the electorates of Ashanti for their “blind love” of the NPP and failure to call its leaders to order, saying that they should have warned the government when it was borrowing recklessly without investing in capital projects.

He also said that in 2020, more Central Region politicians were elected on the NDC ticket, but a lot of people there voted for Akufo-Addo because they chose him based on his policies, not just because he was from the same party.

He questioned the reasons for the Ashantis’ hatred towards to the NDC, brining up the fact that the Ashantis have failed to recognize that the world-class market in the Ashanti Regional capital was built by an NDC administration under John Mahama. His remarks come after a period of rising inflation caused by the country’s debts.
