Okyeame Kwame has mentioned in a recent interview with Zionfelix that he had a good relationship with Obrafuor before the release of the controversial Kasiebo song, which was perceived as a diss track towards him and Obuor.
In his words, before the song’s release and subsequent popularity on radio and TV, he had a conversation with Obrafuor, during which the issue was not mentioned.
Kwame expressed disappointment that he was not given a heads up, as he would have preferred to handle the situation in a way that aligns with industry culture.
The song created a division between the two rappers, both of whom are regarded as two of the greatest Ghanaian rappers in history.
“I was shocked when I heard the song on the radio. I had spoken to Obrafour and he never mentioned it to me. I thought he should have even given me a heads-up,” he said.
He then revealed how his wife intervened to halt a counter-diss song he had penned to reply to him.
Okyeame Kwame revealed that the incident shocked him during the interview. Here’s what h said;
“I had an exercise book full of diss lines I wanted to use in replying to Obrafuor but my management at that time, especially my wife will not allow me.
“You have not made a song about Nkrumah, you’ve not made a song about your father so why will you go to the studio to record a song about one person?
“Sometimes the people around you should be able to help you make the best decisions. I am sure if I had recorded that diss song maybe I wouldn’t be as relevant as I am now. It may be the saddest highlight of my career.
“The fact that I didn’t diss Obrafour made a lot of forward-positive thinking people see me in a good light,” he said.
