Pollster and Managing Editor of the Dispatch newspaper Ben Ephson believes the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) has a huge chance of winning the 2024 general elections if present vice president Mahamudu Bawumia is made the flagbearer of the party.
He is confident that if Dr Mahamudu Bawumia were to lead the NPP, he would easily break the eight because he has gained support through time from both the Christian and Muslim groups. The torchbearers for the 2024 presidential elections have not yet been chosen by the NPP or the National Democratic Congress (NPP).
In the meantime, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is progressively gaining ground in the next NPP flagbearership competition as about 80 NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) have endorsed him.
In an interview with Onua TV, Ben Ephson emphasized that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stands head and shoulders above his rivals in the NPP and that the party will be able to easily win a significant victory thanks to his candidacy.
He has provided evidence to support his allegations that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, although a Muslim, has used his office effectively to interact with Christians, and that alone might work wonders.
“If Bawumia is made the flagbearer of NPP, he comes with two main advantages; that is many Christians feel comfortable with him even though he is a Muslim and Muslims who used to vote for the NDC would switch and vote for NPP.”
“The Muslims have now noticed that the NDC has taken them for granted for far too long because they don’t take Muslims for even running mate,” he asserted.
