NPP Supporters Clash With #OccupyJulorbiHouse Protestors In London

The London version of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration took a dramatic turn after the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly organised ‘anti-protesters’ to thwart the efforts of the demonstrators and cause disaffection for them in the eyes of the Western media.

Several Ghanaian citizens residing in the United Kingdom took part in the #OccupyJulorBiHouse protest outside the High Commission of Ghana in London but things did not go the way they envisaged.

A video circulating on Twitter depicts the gathering of Ghanaians, some of whom are waving Ghana flags, while others sing patriotic songs using megaphones and portable sound systems. The protesters consist of individuals of various ages.

Interestingly, a separate group, led by Felix Hamilton, an executive member of the ruling New Patriotic Party branch in East London, has emerged to counter-protest against the #OccupyJulorBiHouse demonstrators. Hamilton holds the position of Branch Assistant Secretary for the NPP in East London.

It has been exactly one week since the #OccupyJulorBiHouse protest in Accra held its second-day demonstration, following a first day marked by police arrests, assaults, and other chaotic incidents that garnered significant attention, including from international media outlets.

Notably, several journalists, including those affiliated with foreign media, were detained by the police without any apparent justification.

A series of tweets shared by Ice Queen, who obviously took part in the demonstration, highlighted how things ‘went down’ in London, as depicted in a series of videos she shared on Twitter.

Additionally popular tweeps, @OleleSalvador gave an account of what he saw; He wrote;

In a dramatic turn of events at the UK’s rendition of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, taking place at the Ghana High Commission in London, Ghanaian protesters have found themselves in a face-off with what’s been described as ‘anti-protesters,’ who are reportedly members of the ruling political party. A man who has been identified as Felix H. Hamilton, Branch Asst. & Branch Secretary of the NPP in the UK, labels the Ghanaian protesters as ‘assassins, aliens, and foreigners,’ adamantly asserting that they shall not be permitted to ‘degrade the image of Ghana’ on foreign soil.
