NPA Asks People To Properly Secure Gas Cylinders To Prevent Them From Rolling In Their Cars

The general public has been reminded that they can securely transport full LPG cylinders by securing them in the trunk of their vehicles.

This is done so that the full cylinders don’t get over-pressured, damaging the pressure reliever and maybe causing an explosion as the LPG rushes out.

Transporting full cylinders straight or upright is suggested. When speaking with the public during an LPG awareness and sensitization campaign in the Eastern, Volta, and Oti Regions, NPA’s Consumer Services Manager, Eunice Budu Nyarko, emphasised the need for safety knowledge among LPG consumers.

She warned that ignoring LPG safety guidelines might result in fires that would cause injuries, fatalities, and serious damage to property.

Traders, pedestrians, commercial drivers, and radio broadcasters were all invited to participate in the exercises, which were organised by the Corporate Affairs and Gas Directorates with help from the Ghana National Fire and Rescue Service (GNFRS) and the Authority’s regional offices.

The group educated the public on a variety of topics related to the petroleum industry’s downstream sector, including the PA’s mandate, customers’ obligations, dangers associated with handling petroleum products, and recommended practises for operators of filling stations.

When welcoming guests at the various durbars on behalf of the NPA, Chief Executive-NPA Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and NPA Communications Manager Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Kudus said that despite widespread use of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) in Europe and the United States, very few serious accidents have been reported there because of strict compliance with safety rules and regulations.

To reap the full advantages, avoid accidents, and protect lives and property, he stressed the importance of strictly complying with LPG safety guidelines.
