The disdain that some Ghanaians hold for the LGBTQ+ community has manifested tragically in the case of Akwasi Kardashian.
Ghanaian media personality Abena Moet has passionately condemned the judgmental attitudes of individuals who trolled the late Akwasi Kardashian over his perceived sexuality.
In a conversation on Neat FM that has sparked intriguing discourse on entertainment news in Ghana, Moet addressed the negative comments that surfaced during Kardashian’s illness and continued even after his death. “Does being gay give you kidney failure?
“Even virgins suffer from kidney failure. He had other health issues. Being gay does not cause kidney failure. Let’s show some empathy,” she stated, urging people to look beyond their prejudices and show compassion.
Moet highlighted the cruel remarks that flooded social media when Kardashian’s video asking for help with his kidney failure went viral. “When his video came out asking for help with his kidney failure, you should have seen the comments.

“People kept discussing his supposed LGBT affiliation and suggesting he appeal to that community,” she noted.
She criticized the judgmental attitudes of some individuals, reminding them that no one is superior simply because they are not part of the LGBTQ+ community.
“Even after his death, people continued with the same narrative, claiming being gay is wrong and that he’s going to hell. Many of these commenters are so-called Christians.
“Who are you to judge?” she challenged. Moet pointed out the hypocrisy in their judgments, saying, “You who have slept with someone’s spouse, lied, stolen, or even harmed others, just because you’re not gay, you think you’re better?
“The Bible does not say only gays will go to hell. The fact that you sin differently from someone else does not make you superior or exempt from consequences. For all we know, he may have repented and been forgiven before he died.”
