“Sugarcane” hitmaker Camidoh has voiced concerns over the lack of investment in music video production in Ghana, contrasting it with the significant advancements made in neighboring Nigeria.
During an interview with Melvin Da Enigma on Luv FM, he emphasized the crucial role that high-quality music videos play in an artiste’s success and overall brand image.
The artist lamented that while Nigerian musicians consistently allocate substantial budgets for their music videos—often comparable to the costs of producing a full-length Ghanaian film—investors in Ghana remain hesitant to support local artists in their visual and marketing endeavors.
He stated, “Nigerians don’t compromise on quality; they go all out to make sure their videos come out very great.”
Camidoh highlighted that this difference in investment not only enhances the viewing experience for fans but also helps elevate the overall music industry in Nigeria.
Additionally, Camidoh recently discussed the contrasting characteristics of Nigerian and Ghanaian artists based on his working relationships with them.
When it comes to the entertainment industry, particularly movies and music, the overwhelming perception is that Nigerians have established themselves as frontrunners among artists from various African countries.
Camidoh, sharing his perspective, highlighted the strong sense of enthusiasm and determination that Nigerians possess when it comes to creating music.
He believes that Ghanaians should strive to emulate this quality.
He added that Nigerians are known for their daring, adventurous, and innovative approach to music, which is why their music transcends borders and resonates with a global audience.
