Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has revealed that his father, Dr. Edward Sagini Ugboma is dead.
Taking to his Instagram page, Bovi shared a heartfelt announcement on behalf of the Ugboma family, confirming that his father passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025.
“We the Ugboma family wish to announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and uncle, Dr. Edward Sagini Ugboma (PhD) on this day, the 13th of February 2025,” the statement read.
The family noted that the late Dr. Ugboma is survived by his children—Judy, Edna, Bovi, Zino, Tano, Tome, and Jii—as well as several grandchildren and extended relatives. They also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and condolences received so far.

Bovi accompanied the announcement with a photo of his father, a man he has often spoken about with admiration in past interviews.
Bovi Ugboma, popularly known as Bovi, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian, actor, director, producer, and writer.
Born on September 25, 1979, in Benin City, Nigeria, he has become one of the most influential figures in Nigerian entertainment. He began his career as an assistant to veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) before transitioning into comedy in 2007.
His breakthrough came with his self-written sitcom Extended Family, which gained widespread popularity.
Over the years, he has performed at major comedy shows like Night of a Thousand Laughs, Uncensored, and Lord of the Ribs.
In addition to stand-up, Bovi has worked on successful projects, including his hit comedy concert Man on Fire and the 2016 movie It’s Her Day, which was well-received in Nigeria
