NDC To Elect Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates on May 6

On May 6, 2023, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), will elect its presidential and parliamentary candidates for election 2024.

This was announced in a timetable on Thursday, January 5, after a Functional and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The party clarified that both the Presidential and Parliamentary primaries will take place concurrently.

Per the timetable, The opening of nominations would be from February 22 to February 24, 2023.

Submission and filing of forms have been scheduled for Monday, March 20, 2023, to Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

The vetting of aspirants would be held from Monday, March 27, 2023, to Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Appeals by aspirants will follow from March 30 to April 6.

A filing fee of GH¢500,000 has been proposed with a nomination fee of GH¢30,000 for the presidential aspirants.

For parliamentary aspirants, the forms is pegged at GH¢5000, whereas GH¢40,000 has been proposed as the filing fee.

The party urged appointees at all levels to remain at post until the end of May 2023.

It said if executives have any case regarding any appointee, they are to call for the matter to be resolved.
